Filipino-American pianist, Amanda Sabelhaus, is a highly acclaimed collaborative artist renowned for her exceptional versatility. With a career dedicated to vocal and instrumental accompanying, Amanda has collaborated with a wide range of performers across genres including classical, jazz, and musical theatre.

Amanda has performed at renowned venues including Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and participated in prestigious festivals including three seasons at the International Flute Festival in Weggis, Switzerland. Amanda’s work has been featured on WRCJ in Detroit and has received critical acclaim for its depth and sensitivity. Recent performances include recitals with soprano Leah Crocetto & countertenor John Holiday.

With James Galway, Amanda spent three years as a pianist working at the International Flute Festival.  She performed with Trevor Wye and Nicola Mazzanti, continuing their collaboration at the National Flute Convention in Chicago, where she performed the opening gala concert.  For fifteen years she performed as a touring artist with the Michigan Opera Theatre and served as the official accompanist for the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions in Detroit.

Amanda is a masterful improvisational pianist renowned for her exceptional creativity and virtuosity. With an innate ability to spontaneously craft intricate and compelling musical ideas, Amanda has captivated audiences with performances that blend technical brilliance with deep emotional resonance. Her improvisational skills extend across a wide range of styles, from music theater to jazz, with a specialty in American Songbook repertoire.  

In addition to her performance career,  Amanda serves as the Coordinator of Collaborative Piano for the Voice Department at Oakland University.  She resides in Rochester, Michigan with her husband, retired Army Captain Joseph Sabelhaus.  Together they enjoy traveling with their two adult daughters.
